Lamictal along with cannabis may be great for those who have epilepsy or other conditions that cause seizures. They both work together to sooth movements that are spastic, help to reduce inflammation, and balance the neurochemicals that are a part of seizures. But there are some drug interactions with this, so be mindful when you mix both of these. 

What Lamictal is

This is basically branded lamotrigine, which is a medication that’s used to control or prevent seizures win the body. It’s considered off label for being an anticonvulsant, so it’s not directly approved by the FDA to help with this. It helps to work through the imbalance of the neurotransmitters which are responsible for not just seizures, but other kinds of epilepsy. 

This is not approved for children under 2, since this can cause a rash that’s light threatening, especially when used too much. While experts don’t really know how it works directly, they theorize that it works with the nerve pathways, decreasing these, offering better signals towards the brain, slowing this activity, to help with treating various activities associated with seizures. 

Those with epilepsy, lennox-gastuat syndrome, and tonic-clonic seizures can benefit from this. It does take a few weeks to work, and doses may start low to ensure that you can handle the side effects, raising them every couple of weeks till you get the ideal dosage. 

Benefits and drawbacks of Mixing This 

There are benefits to mixing Lamictal and cannabis, and this is depending upon the symptoms that you wish to seek. CBD is great for reducing signatures, and there are medications that are CBD focused, so if you have symptoms, this can help, and Lamictal can complement this as well. 

CBD also does interact and prolong how long it’s in the body, and it can cause affects which are adverse. You should discuss how these react before putting it into the regimen of medications. It does work well in some cases of bipolar, but if you have some strains, it may cause paranoia, but others may help with anxiety and the like. As for risks, there aren’t any specific studies which show the interactions that may be adverse, but the problem is that there is not enough research there. it’s sedative, so it may increase if you’re taking more marijuana and the like. If you use these two together. It can increase both confusion, and dizziness as well. 

If you have too high of a dosage of this, it causes rashes that are dangerous, which eventually lead to possible hospitalization, or even in some cases death if the rash is sever. This can clear up within eight weeks of starting treatment, but you also may want to add more cannabis until you figure out the safest response. 

Cannabis when you take this with Lamictal does lead to confusion, dizziness, motor coordination issues, and drowsiness, and it can definitely be a problem for many. If you’re going to use dosages that are low, you should start with lower numbers, go slow, and take your time with this, as it can play a huge part of this.
